CPT Megan Tidwell
7th Grade Military Awareness
Captain Megan Tidwell is an Army Logistical Officer and an educator. Raised in
Southern California she moved to Utah to pursue a Academic and basketball scholarship at
Dixie State University. She graduated in 2010 with a degree in Education and an English
Second Language Endorsement. Following graduation she followed her dream to serve her
country and joined the military. She has served the last 9 years in the Utah Army National
Guard. She enlisted in 2010 and served in Baghdad, Iraq in 2011 before becoming a non-
commissioned office in 2012. In 2013 she enrolled in officer candidate school and
commissioned as a second lieutenant logistics officer. She is currently serving as the
Company Commander of the 213 th Forward Support Company in Saint George, Utah for the
Utah National Guard. She became the first female commander in the 222 nd Battalion in
2017. While becoming a leader in the military and progressing her military career her love
for mentoring students has grown. Before returning to Utah, she served as a full-time TAC
officer and teacher at Valley Forge Military Academy where she mentored young men 7 th -
12 th in becoming upstanding citizen leaders both in and out of the military. Working as their
teacher, their advisor, and their counselor she took great pride in their success as a service
academy prep school and the accomplishments of her students. Her time at Valley Forge is
what inspired her to return to teaching and inspire students within her classroom and help
mentor the future leaders/ citizens of tomorrow. When she is not teaching or in the military
training she enjoys spending time with her family and travelling the world.
